The information on this page will tell you exactly what you need for licenses and permits, their costs and where to obtain them. You do not need any special permits for any certain weapon. One license can do it all.
To hunt Black Bear in Maine you will need a
Big Game License..Cost $114.
Archery Big Game License...Cost $74
Black Bear Permit..Cost $74
If you wish to fish, a 7 day fishing license at a cost of $43.
If you only plan to hunt with a bow you will need the Archery Big Game License instead of the regular Big Game License. It will save you $40. I do however encourage bow hunters to carry a firearm with a scope to use in the last 30 minutes of the hunt. This is a time when you may not be able to see your bow sights and it is prime time for hunting the Maine Black Bear. If you plan to use this strategy, you will need the Big Game License instead of the Archery Big Game License.
If you are not a resident of Maine these will all be Non-Resident licenses.
These may all be obtained online at www.mefishwildlife.com or at a local Walmart or general store when you arrive. You will need a copy of a hunter safety card from a course you have taken or a copy of your hunting license from your home state. |
